What makes a trouser a track pant?
The fabric and the closure rather than the leg. A track pant is cut in a smooth synthetic with an elasticated waist and no fly or button, so it pulls on. That is what separates it from a jogger, which is usually a cotton loopback, and from a tailored trouser, which fastens.
