We're continuing our partnership with Cool Earth to provide speciality safety equipment to support Indigenous-led wildfire prevention in the Peruvian Amazon.

Cool Earth

Cool Earth is a global climate charity working directly with Indigenous communities to protect rainforests. Their approach is simple: support the people who know the forest best, and trust them to protect it.

In the Peruvian Amazon, the Asháninka communities of the Ene River basin have lived alongside fire for generations. But today's changing climate is making it harder to predict and control, turning everyday practices into growing risks.

Last year, we helped train 275 wildfire fighters across 45 communities. This year, we're helping equip them by partnering with Cool Earth to contribute 1% of your order subtotal toward our £20,000 goal. Because when conditions shift without warning, the right tools can mean the difference between a controlled burn and a wildfire.

What we supported in 2025

Together with Cool Earth, we helped train and organize Indigenous fire brigades across 45 communities in the Peruvian Amazon.

The results were immediate. In 2025, there were no wildfires at all. Three potential events were identified and stopped by the brigades before they could take hold.

What we're supporting in 2026

The brigades are trained. The systems are in place. Now, they need the right equipment.

This year's funding will go towards specialist safety equipment for PAAMARI's community fire brigades, including helmets, protective clothing, tools, and communication equipment that keep brigade members safe when responding to wildfire alerts.

Because when a trained crew has the tools they need, a potential wildfire can be stopped faster and more effectively.
