What is pointelle?

Pointelle is a knit with a regular pattern of small eyelet holes worked into the fabric, which makes it lighter and a little more sheer than a plain rib, with a softer, more delicate look. The same pointelle pattern runs through every piece here, so two pieces worn together read as one.

Materials used in the pointelle collection

Our pointelle comes in two knits. One is LENZING™ ECOVERO™ Viscose (62%) blended with at least 29% recycled nylon and elastane, and the other is cotton, made with at least 97% organic cotton and a little elastane. Both are knitted in the same open pattern, and the exact fabric mix is on every product page.

Versatile styling with pointelle

The pointelle tops are the piece to start with: on their own in summer, in place of a T-shirt, and under a cardigan or a jacket once it turns cold. The bras and underwear are cut to match, and the pointelle bodysuit brings top and bottom together in one piece, to wear with jeans, a skirt or under a dress.

Wearing pointelle as a set

A pointelle bra under a pointelle top is the simplest set, and the bodysuit does the same job on its own. Because the knit is open, a darker layer underneath shows through a little, so keep top and bottom in the same shade if you want them to read as one piece, or contrast them on purpose.

Size and fit options

Nearly every pointelle style comes in XXS to XXXL. The knit has stretch, so if you are between sizes, the size guide on the style you like will tell you which way to go.

Caring for your pointelle pieces

Pointelle is a delicate knit, so treat it like one: machine wash cool on a gentle cycle with similar colors, skip the tumble dryer and dry flat so the pattern does not stretch out. Fold pointelle rather than hanging it, so the knit does not stretch under its own weight.
